So its 2020.... a new decade, a new beginning and a new year, a blank canvass to fill. What will the year bring to us here at Sparkhill Methodist Church? I have a sense that God is moving amongst us and will lead us into the new decade with a sense of purpose, of course what that purpose is we don't know at this point, however as we share together on Sunday's and during the week, as we pray for direction and God's will for our church, perhaps together we can find a way forward. The world at the beginning of 2020 is a very different place to the world of 20 years ago at the beginning of a new millennium, even different from 10 years ago at the start of another new decade. The world around us presents changes which would not have been credited even ten years ago. The question arises: where shall we find a rock which shall remain unmoved by the ebb and flow of events and circumstances so keenly affecting us on every hand? To this query there can only be one answer, 'The Lord lives. Blessed be my rock, and exalted the God of my salvation.' Psalm 18: 46. We are reminded at the beginning of a new year in which we will be facing many changes that the Lord does not change, God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We are reminded too that God lives in each one of us, he is the rock upon which we can depend no matter what storms we might need to weather. So as we begin this new year shall we praise the God who is our salvation, who leads us on the right path and has our very best interests at heart. I do look forward to all that God has in store for us this year, may he bless us as we continue to seek to do his will. Blessings, Sue.
